LONGMONT – Julianna Hayword of Brighton finished second in the softball throw in the final meet of the Colorado Association of Recreational Athletics track season Saturday.

    Arin Thompson was sixth in the 1,600-meter run among 13- and 14-year-olds. She also took fifth in the 800-meters and third in the high jump. Becky Swink (9- and 10-year-olds) was fifth in the 800-meters. Vanessa Elkins (9- and 10-year-olds) was part of the fourth-place 4-by-100-meter relay squad.

    Chase Addison (7- and 8-year-olds) was eighth in the 400-meter dash, sixth  in the 800-meter run and fourth in the shot put. Josh Dean (7- and 8-year-olds) took third in the 800-meter run).

    Julianna Hayward (5- and 6-year-olds) was eighth in the 100-meter dash and sixth in the 200-meters.

    “Some did extra well and earned a certificate and a special ribbon for being in the overall top eight in their age group for each event,” coach Jennifer Kite said.

       Other participants were Moses Martinez (13- and 14-year-olds); Dirae Collins (11- and 12-year-olds); Nick Martinez (9- and 10-year-olds);  Nathaniel Elkins (7- and 8-year-olds); Justin Dean (7- and 8-year-olds); and 5- and 6-year-olds Alexander Elkins, Makiya Henriquez, Marquel Collins, Tyler Lang, Kaleb Quammie and Olivea Breville.
