Youth Image Summit returns to Brighton in November

The city of Brighton’s youth services department will host the sixth annual Image Summit Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 2 and 3, at Riverdale Regional Park, 9755 Henderson Road.

The two-day conference is for youngsters 10 to 19 years or age, and the purpose to help them gain leadership skills and inspiration to use their voices to impact communities and government policy, according to a statement.

The list of keynote speakers includes:

  • Kyle Scheele, a motivational speaker, author and “champion of crazy ideas,” according to the statement. Scheele has spoken to more than 350,000 audience members the past 12 years, the statement said;
  • Laymon Hicks, another motivational speaker, encourages his audiences to pursue dreams and goals through powerful life principles, the statement said; and
  • Juan Bendana, a DJ and youth speaker who talks about engagement and action with his audiences.

“We are thrilled to bring youth together again for another year of this summit,” said Tawnya Russell, manager of youth services for the city of Brighton, in the statement. “We want the youth to walk away building their network of young leaders.”

Register at brightonimmagesummit.org. The cost is $25 for students and chaperones. Registration remains open until all 500 slots are taken.

There will be an informational meeting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, for questions about the summit.
