Special Transit offers free rides to health fair

Posted

Special Transit will offer free rides to the upcoming 9Health Fair for Brighton residents who need them. The fair provides free basic health screenings and information and low-cost blood screenings that can check for a variety of health issues from 7 a.m. to noon, April 17, at Platte Valley Medical Center, 1600 Prairie Center Parkway.

Special Transit is a nonprofit organization that provides regular door-through-door, low-cost transportation to anyone in Brighton on weekdays. There are no qualifications for using the service.

“We recognize that transportation is essential to accessing health care so we are pleased to extend our normal service times to accommodate the needs of the community,” said Jon Swanson, director of community and customer services.

Call Special Transit at 303-447-9636 by 2 p.m., April 14 to request a ride to the fair. You will be asked to provide your name, address, phone number, and some other basic information. Because the bus will be picking up multiple riders from their homes, you will be given a range of time during which the bus will arrive to pick you up. For return rides, the bus will shuttle back and forth between the Platte Valley Medical Center and people’s homes as participants finish at the fair.
