Rose Uyemura, 89, of Wheat Ridge, passed away July 6, 2010.
She was born Jan. 17, 1921, in Fort Lupton to Tokuhei and Natsue Takamori. She graduated from Fort Lupton High School in 1939 and married Joe Uyemura Nov. 31, 1940 in Blanca. Rose worked the family farm in Blanca for many years. She moved to Denver and became the bookkeeper for Outwest Bean Co., and she continued her employment there for numerous years. She also worked for the Arthritis Foundation in Denver until retirement. She was a member of the Tri-State Buddhist Temple her entire life. She loved to work in her garden and raise sheep with her husband.
Rose is survived by her children, Douglas (Dorothy) Uyemura, of Greeley, Carol (David) Wimberley, of Winchester, Va., and Donna (Donald) Lachman, of Wheat Ridge; one sister; Ruby Harada, of Windsor; seven grandchildren; and 15 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, in 2002; her parents; and one sister, Ina Koshio.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., July 16, at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home in Brighton. Funeral is at 7:30 p.m., July 16, at Tri-State Buddhist Temple in Denver. Graveside Service will be at 10 a.m., July 17, at Hillside Cemetery in Fort Lupton.
