Prairie View's girls ousted from state basketball tournament

BERTHOUD – Berthoud High School pulled away in the second half and beat Prairie View 50-37 in the first round of the state girls 4A basketball tournament.

The Spartans held the ThunderHawks to one point in the third quarter and to no second-half field goals until midway through the fourth quarter.

Danielle Wikre led BHS with 14 points. Mariah Ames led Prairie View with 11 points. Jordan Wilson added 10.

Prairie View finishes the season with a record of 11-12. Berthoud improves to 15-9 and faces Pueblo East at Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch Friday afternoon.
