Brighton High School scored 12 runs in the first inning and beat rival Prairie View 19-0 in Brighton Aug. 25. The game lasted three innings because of the state's mercy rule/.

Kiera McWilliams and Sumi Mizunaga had two base hits and drove in four of Brighton's runs. Jordyn Marteinez added three hits and three RBIs. Brylynn Haddick and Brooke Johnson added a pair of hits and two RBIs.

Winning pitcher Brooke Johnson pitched two innings and struck out six batters.

Belle Bencivenga had one of Prairie View's base hits. Audrey Trujillo had the other.
