BRIGHTON - One person was seriously injured Tuesday night after an accident at 120th Avenue and U.S. Highway 85.

The accident, which happened about 8:30 p.m., involved a mini-van and a tractor-trailer. Northbound U.S. 85 was closed at the intersection for more than an hour as emergency workers from the Brighton Fire District and Platte Valley Ambulance paramedics first worked to extricate the injured individual trapped in the mini van and then clear the damaged vehicles from the roadway. As a result of the colision, the tractor trailer's fuel tank was damaged and spilled an unknown amount of fuel on the roadway.
The identity of the injured individual was not released and there was no word on a possible traffic citation.
