BRIGHTON -- The Adams County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution Dec. 8 that prohibits establishing and operating medical marijuana dispensaries and growing operations in the county. It extends the county's moratorium that would have expired at the end of the year.
County officials said they examined the results of several ballot questions last month as well as the state medical marijuana code before making their decision. The state code allows the commissioners to vote to prohibit commercial medical marijuana facilities.
The resolution does not apply to possession and use of medical marijuana by certified medical marijuana patients in accordance with state law. The resolution is already in effect.
