Mary Lou Reck, 81, a longtime resident of Morgan County, died Nov. 28, 2009, at the Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan.
She was born Feb. 5, 1928, in Denver, to Roy and Mabel Chapman, and attended Whittier School, graduated from Brighton High School and attended the University of Denver.
She married George Reck Nov. 3, 1946, in Denver. They farmed near Hoyt until they retired in 1976 and moved to Fort Morgan. In addition to being a housewife, she was a bookkeeper and secretary for 35 years at the American Hog Co. and the certified public accountant firm of Littjohann and Peterson.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Fort Morgan. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, Tops and Silver Notes Band. Her family was her life. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, and enjoyed going to all of the family activities.
Survivors include her daughter, Rosemary Zipperer of Parker; two sons, Douglas Reck, and Marc Reck, of Sterling; three brothers, James Chapman of Grand Junction, Jack Chapman, of Bellflower, Calif., and Jerry Chapman of Castle Rock; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m., Dec. 2, at the United Methodist Church in Fort Morgan. Graveside services follow at Riverside Cemetery in Fort Morgan.
