Lauris Grace Bell

Lauris Grace Bell passed away Aug. 8, 2010, at the age of 92.

    She was born May 6, 1918, in Loup City, Neb., to Maude and Arthur Reed. She was the third of seven children. Two of the children died in infancy. The family moved to Colorado and she began school in Greeley and later graduated from the Fort Lupton Schools in 1936. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan College. She returned to the Brighton area and, on Nov. 21, 1937, married Charles L. Bell in Denver.

    The couple lived in various locations along the Front Range until settling in Brighton. Charles and Lauris had three sons, Lowell, Lynn and Jeff. Lauris was a homemaker for many of her years, while Charles supported the family farming, delivering ice and coal, and later driving a long-haul furniture van. Lauris worked for United Lumber as a bookkeeper. They retired to the Windsor area. Lauris returned to Brighton after Charles’ death in 2004. Lauris enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge. 

    She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Nerwin and Don; and sisters, Maxine and Marjorie.

    Lauris is survived by her sons, Lowell (Peg), Lynn (Sue), and Jeff (Mary); six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

    A memorial service is at 10:30 a.m., Aug. 13, at the Brighton United Methodist Church, 625 S. Eighth Ave. Lauris will be interred with her family at Elmwood Cemetery in Brighton.

    Memorial contributions may be made to the Inglenook at Brighton Employees Fund, 2195 E. Egbert St, Brighton, CO 80601. Dewitt-Tabler Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
