Kelly Avila, 48, of Lochbuie died of cancer Jan. 9, 2010.

    She was born Nov. 18, 1961, to Ronald and Loretta Akes in Denver. She attended school in Denver until she moved to Grand Junction with her family in 1976. After graduating from Central High School, she worked for Rite Aid. While still employed with Rite Aid, she moved back to Denver in 1986. Kelly married Edward Avila in 1990 and had three children, Jeremy, Ashleigh and Kaylee. She later worked for Production Control Services.

    Survivors include her children, of Lochbuie; her mother, Loretta (Gary) Miller, of Grand Junction; sisters, Kerry Tucker (Mike Anderson), of Fort Lupton, and Karla (Guy) Skufca, of Grand Junction; two nephews; two nieces; stepbrothers, Brent, Mark and Troy of Grand Junction; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her father; grandparents, Carl and Mary Akes and James and Mary Talarico; and one niece Haleigh Skufca.

    Rosary and memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m., Jan. 14, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 675 E. Egbert St., Brighton.

    Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Heartland Memorial Fund, 8774 Yates Drive, No. 100, Westminster, CO 80023.     

    Tabor-Rice Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
