U.S. veteran Geraldine “Gerry” Lannon, 86, of Greeley and formerly of Brighton, died Jan. 7, 2010, at MeadowView Assisted Living Center in Greeley.

    She was born Jan. 4, 1924, in Keenesburg, to Dwight and Nellie (Plumleigh) Bower. Gerry grew up on a farm near Keenesburg and graduated from Prospect Valley High School. She attended Colorado State University and enlisted in the U.S. Marines in 1944. She attained the rank of sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1946. She married Joseph Lannon July 3, 1946, in San Francisco, Calif.  The family moved to Brighton in 1961, and she worked at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal. After her husband’s death, Gerry moved several times to be near her children then returned to Estes Park in 2004. 

    Survivors include her daughter, Jody Burnham, of Tigard, Ore.; two sons, Timothy (Marilyn) Lannon, of Platteville, and Shawn (Melissa) Lannon, of Manheim, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and 21 nieces and nephews.

    In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Margie Knierim; and two brothers, Lawrence and William Bower.

    Memorial service is 11 a.m., Jan. 15, at Adamson Chapel in Greeley.
