FORT COLLINS – Fifteen Brighton athletes took part in this year’s Hershey Colorado state track and field meet in Fort Collins.

First-place winners earned a trip to the national meet in Hershey, Pa., later this summer.

Brighton posted no first-place finishes. However, Abigail Breville took second place in the 100-meter dash and third place in the 200-meters.

On the boys side, the top finishers were Dante Martinez, who was sixth in the 1,600-meter run for 13- and 14-year-olds. Riley Merich finished seventh in the 9- and 10-year-old 400-meter dash.

The other participants were Arin Thomson, Savannah Luna, Jacob Amador, Devan Green, Kaila Green, Emily Fitzjohn, Chase Addison, Peter Kite, Aspen Amador, Vanessa Elkins, Kiran Green and Kaela Guerra.

“All the athletes did a great job,” coach Jennifer Kite said.
