By Kevin Denke
Editor,
I have served the wonderful people of Adams County for nearly 21 years as a supervisor or commander in the sheriff’s office. In the last seven-plus years, Doug Darr inspired the people in this agency to work diligently to find new ways to make Adams County a better place in which to live and work. His leadership resulted in the development of methods that obviously work and work well.
Crime is down at least 42 percent since he has been in office. You have had more opportunity to be heard and influence agency activities in your communities. Employee effectiveness is up because Sheriff Darr gives deputies the necessary tools to do their work. Professional standards and expectations remain high.
You know, past performance can be the best (and perhaps only) predictor of future effectiveness. That said it then follows that Sheriff Doug Darr’s past leadership and performance have paid major dividends for you and the county.
Re-electing him should continue that trend, and that is good for all of us. Before voting for Adams County sheriff, please locate and consider the past performance of all the candidates. You will learn that Doug Darr continuously strives to do right things including listening to and responding to you, be you a resident, businessperson or employee.
This election, I hope you will agree with me that Doug Darr is the clear choice for Adams County sheriff.
