Brighton, Thornton take government award
The cities of Brighton and Thornton received a local government award from the Denver Regional Council of Governments for their water delivery project. The award was presented in late April at DRCOG’s awards of excellence dinner in Glendale.
The project earned the bronze award in the program’s collaborative category. The two cities entered into a treated water lease with the city of Westminster, it needed a way to get the water to town while crossing the city of Thornton at the same time. DRCOG said the joint effort between Brighton and Thornton saved time, money and the inconvenience of construction.
