BRIGHTON — A large crowd of onlookers watched Tuesday morning as Union Pacific's largest operating steam locomotive, No. 3985, pulled the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus train through Brighton, on its way to Denver.
The train came through Brighton about 9:40 a.m. as it headed toward its final stop of the day in Denver. There, the circus train cars were to unhook as Ringling Bros. sets up shop at the Denver Coliseum for the next two weeks. The locomotive was to stay in Denver overnight before it begins the next leg of a six-state, 2,200-mile tour that takes it from Cheyenne to Gorham, Ill., and back to celebrate railroad heritage and help Sedalia, Mo., celebrate the community’s Sesquicentennial.
