Celebrate fall with the Good Luck 4-H Club Saturday

The Good Luck 4-H Club’s annual Fall Festival this Saturday will benefit the local club members in a variety of ways, said club leader Gloria Cundall.
“When we plan our calendar for the 4-H year, we plan activities that meet four goals: educational, recreational, community pride/service and fundraising,” she said. “The Fall Festival does all four. The 4-Hers learn leadership, team building and planning.”
4-Hers invite the community to the event Saturday afternoon (Oct. 23) at the Adams County Fairgrounds. The festival promises to be fun for the whole family, Cundall said, with games, booths, costume contests, coloring contests, entertainment, silent and Pennsylvania auctions and door prizes. A lasagna dinner will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. Tickets for the event are $7 for adults and $5 for children age 6 and under.
“The festival is recreational and fun for all ages with the games, various contests, auction and the visiting that goes on,” Cundall said. “Many that will be in attendance will have attended each of the 17 festivals before, and they look forward to seeing people that they haven’t seen since last festival.
“This will be our 18th Fall Festival,” she continued. “This is our club’s big project for the year. The families work together to build booths to represent the festival theme.  The 4-H families work together to make it all happen.”
This year’s theme is Historical Landmarks in Foreign Countries, Cundall said. The countries being represented in the booths will include Peru, England, France, Australia, China and Russia. Each booth has a carnival-type game to play and a special dessert that will go along with the dinner.
“Since this is such an attraction for the community members it boosts the community pride and spirit,” Cundall said. “We’re working together as a community.”
“This is the club’s largest fund raising event of the year,” she added. “Proceeds from our all festival goes to buy awards for the members and helps to defray the costs associated with the meeting hall where all of their meetings and activities are held. It’s good family fun for everyone, and it supports and promotes the 4-H kids.”
