Budget problems hound state of Colorado

   BRIGHTON – While there is some increased optimism concerning the state of the state’s economy, there is still the matter of budget cuts to address in the state Legislature.

    Two of Brighton’s three legislators think the problem is conflicting amendments in the state Constitution. Rep. Judy Solano, D-Brighton, and state Sen. Mary Hodge, D-Brighton, would like their fellow lawmakers to do something about that.

    And if not, Solano said there is the possibility of asking for a tax increase.

    Solano, Hodge and Rep. Kevin Priola, D-Henderson, spoke to the Brighton Chamber of Commerce business luncheon Thursday at the Armory.
