BRIGHTON — Police announced Wednesday they arrested a 16-year-old Brighton boy with 13 counts of alleged application of graffiti.
It is the latest arrest in the department's continued crackdown on graffiti vandalism.
Police spokesman John Bradley said police had been investigating a series of recent graffiti cases involving the same graffiti moniker, or ‘tag’, in the northern areas of the city. During the course of the investigation, officers reviewed surveillance tapes at a local school in an attempt to identify a suspect in one of the cases, which occurred there. When school officials became aware of the details of the investigation, they were able to provide additional information that helped lead to the boy’s arrest.
After being identified, the youth was interviewed in the presence of his parents and released to their custody with a summons to appear in Brighton Municipal Court.
