BRIGHTON — Newcomers Mike Benallo and Dean Morris were elected to the Greater Brighton Fire District board of directors Tuesday.

Benallo, a fire service veteran, was the top vote getter with 126 votes. Morris, a retired GBFPD firefighter, finished second with 116 votes.

Incumbent Tom Janich narrowly missed reelection. He finished with 109 votes and candidate Russ Carr finished with 82 votes.

Brighton Fire Chief Mark Bodane said the results were unofficial until the canvass board meets but he added the results shouldn't change because there were no outstanding votes.

Benallo and Morris are expected to be sworn in at the May 12 fire district board meeting.
