A 35-year-old man died Saturday after a trench collapse.

It happened shortly before 1 p.m. near Eagle Boulevard and Peregrine Drive. The name of the victim was not released. Local media and the Brighton Fire Department reported that sewer line work was in progress at the time.

The cause of the collapse has not been released. Six fire departments responded to offer assistance. Crews had to secure the walls and try to get the dirt out of the hole before beginning the actual rescue operation.
